Going all poli board for a second this was a given once the government employees were allowed to unionize. These guys are now holding the taxpayers hostage, and while they may have some legitimate complaints with the city this is not the way to protest. Government unions are huge conflicts of interest that should never be allowed.

$8 to $12 is avg for hopper
( guy who dumps the cans in the truck).
Sad part is you could have them replaced in hours if you have a private company ( progressive/ iesi, allied, wm, or independent) using contract labor through temp agency in a neighboring parish.
Drivers and mechanics that is really below pay scale good luck even finding below average workers.
