Shreveport arguably has the best infrastructure (at least with the interstate system) in the state except for Maybe Nola. Granted i49 isnt ever gonna get connected but then again its not connected from Laffy to Nola. i49 from Stonewall to Downtown, 3132/220, i49 north, and i20 in Shreveport are all nice. If they would widen i20 in Bossier and fix the potholes going toward Shreveport it would be great.

Any positives? ….sheesh! We gave you a ton of good places to eat & hang out.
Boardwalk was extremely popular first 10 years. should’ve had apartments built on 2nd floor. The streets should’ve been opened to traffic for easy access instead of parking in garage. The Bass Pro is good with easy access to Margaritaville.

Where do you live BabyTac?

I like the fact that both SHV & Bossier built really nice parkways on either side of river with large areas of green space & trails. This is a huge traffic reliever that no other city in Louisiana has.

My wife's folks live in Chattanooga, and I think that's a city Shreveport should study.
A growing economy, Google Fiber, no state income tax, and located in the foothills of Appalachia. Chattanooga and Shreveport aren't exactly comparable.

Why you might ask?

Shreveport has an interesting musical history that it has never really leveraged to any great extent

THIS!!!

On a side note the Bossier Strip at one time rivaled the Vegas Strip.

Yep…..the Louisiana Hayride was a institution for Years & then it faded….this should be a thing now like a smaller scale Austin City Limits.
Can anyone with some local musical history knowledge explain why the hayride in SHV went away.
I hear a group called “Louisiana Grandstand” is trying to get something like that started again.

I’m in Austin. I get it, not comparable. There is no excuse Shreveport can’t be a thriving small size city tho.

Like you mentioned, have phases to the boardwalk to make it more of a Domain type area. Upper level apartments. Live here, work here, play here type motto. Make the Texas St bridge pedestrian with a trolly to connect communities (see Little Rock). Small cities have to maximize their downtown areas.

No reason with all the traffic in/out casinos (mostly tourists, Texas) there shouldn’t be touristy stuff built all around them. Nightlife, restaurants, etc. Beef up security to keep the less desirable out. Protect your money maker.

The main observation from an outsider is that the state and city leaders have not spent a dime in over a decade to improve anything associated with the town.

Austin is the San Francisco of Texas. Last time I visited, I was amazed at the homeless & trash downtown. Austin is definitely not what it used to be., especially for the cost of living.

This bridge is essential for vehicular traffic when LADOTD morons close I220 for a few sleet flurries.

It’s said Shreveport has lost 10,000 jobs in the last 35-40 yrs. Let that shite sink in.

I am further South than you. I was born and lived in the Ark-La-Tex. The Ark and the La are last in education for years while everyone re-elected corrupt governors. Who suffered most? N LA suffered because whatever they had left that they couldn’t “mis-appropriate” they spent below I-10. Shreveport sucks, in my opinion

It’s gotten better. Was out of control for a while with the camping stuff plus people not going downtown to offices. Austin is struggling with outgrowing itself. As cities build, downtown areas typically suffer.

That’s why Shreveport is prime to centralize everything around it’s downtown. Again, security is a must. Segregate the thuggery to their own communities and protect and grow the downtown districts (see towns like Huntsville and Little Rock). Pedestrian bridges and trolleys to link the communities. Entertainment, shopping, loft apartments littered all around the casinos. It’s set up perfect, just have to do it.

Lol, it IS pedestrian friendly now…has walkways on either side of bridge.
The Wizards of smart are talking about making the old Jimmy Davis bridge a “Linear Park” with new bridge built around it. Since they can’t maintain ANYTHING well, I’ll not be shocked if it collapses.
