I damn near grew up in Elliot's, my grandmother was the seamstress there. Ran the place for Mr Carson. She still has the wrangler cowboy statue that was in the store!

Nice. That whole shopping center was big time in the 70's. From M&Bs shoes to the drug store to National to Elliots TG&Y around to Suzzanes I think.

Found out last week that the pond that is/was in front of the Ascension hospital was actually dug as a watering hole for cattle, long before there was ever a hospital there.

My buddy worked there in late 80's, used to put a case of beer in garbage when they were cleaning up for the night. We'd pick him up and drive around the back and grab the case and start the night!!!

I worked there with Dave and Bo and couple other guys names I forgot. Blairs dad name was Sonny I think?

That land where the hospital was where my grandmother was born. She was a Geautreau and the 40 acres were where she and her 11 siblings helped raise cotton. Her brother sold the land where the hospital and school are located. She told me that her dad use to go rabbit hunting on that land and got it from the government. 40 acres and a mule.

Who told you that? They were building E.A. hospital in my senior year. That had just been dug when we got out our last day. Somebody said lets go jump in that pond. We all ran across the road but not many jumped in. It was about half full of muddy water. I didn't jump.

Boat shop...Parker Marine.
Closer to I-10 there was an old truck stop/Diesel mechanic place that had an ugly little kitchen with awesome food.
