I damn near grew up in Elliot's, my grandmother was the seamstress there. Ran the place for Mr Carson. She still has the wrangler cowboy statue that was in the store!

Yes. A&P. A Sears eventually. I remember a shoe store. A burger joint. A jewelers.
And a good parking lot to meet up in for some drag racing on La.30.

Nice. That whole shopping center was big time in the 70's. From M&Bs shoes to the drug store to National to Elliots TG&Y around to Suzzanes I think.

Found out last week that the pond that is/was in front of the Ascension hospital was actually dug as a watering hole for cattle, long before there was ever a hospital there.

My buddy worked there in late 80's, used to put a case of beer in garbage when they were cleaning up for the night. We'd pick him up and drive around the back and grab the case and start the night!!!
I worked there with Dave and Bo and couple other guys names I forgot. Blairs dad name was Sonny I think?

That land where the hospital was where my grandmother was born. She was a Geautreau and the 40 acres were where she and her 11 siblings helped raise cotton. Her brother sold the land where the hospital and school are located. She told me that her dad use to go rabbit hunting on that land and got it from the government. 40 acres and a mule.

Who told you that? They were building E.A. hospital in my senior year. That had just been dug when we got out our last day. Somebody said lets go jump in that pond. We all ran across the road but not many jumped in. It was about half full of muddy water. I didn't jump.

Closer to I-10 there was an old truck stop/Diesel mechanic place that had an ugly little kitchen with awesome food.

Elliot's had that huge pair of jeans hanging up.
M&B shoe store
Paul's Place
KFC moving to a thousand different locations and always shutting down
Hard Quarters
The original burger King where cane's is now
Guiseppe's with the game room on top
Seth kicking me out for the Pasqua theater but giving me a pass to come back the next day
The devil face in that oak tree in Prairieville on the way to Baton Rouge
The table pac man machine at Sicily's
Bone China concerts
The hospital field before they built all the health buildings
Dr. Caro's office with all the taxidermy
Gonzales sports shop on the corner of Burnside and Cornerview
Breaking into Gonzales swimming pool at night
I could go on forever...good times
