You are describing my ex wife to a T… dealing with her shite is maddening

Went in business with a friend, lost my job and over $250k.

No, it can drive anyone insane. The past is something to learn from and not to regret.

Agree. A bigger regret may be to not even try. Better to give it a shot and figure out your limits.

Im wondering myself, Does anyone successfully change?
Even when you start and stop.
But cant escape the nature of your mind.

If I would get back money on everything stupid thing I spend money on I'd be in good shape.

Have made my fair share of goofs.
Am not real smart nor wise - have just done a lot of stupid things and have learned the hard way

No. If you dont screw up, you aren't doing anything.

Yeah, i went to a baseball game and harassed a dad to give me a baseball that I was entitled to get even though i didn't catch it.

I am retired and happier than I have ever been, I made lots of stupid divisions but I wouldn't change anything about any if them out of fear that I would someone mess up the path to get here. I also wouldn't want to miss out on the friends I have had.
As long as you avoid financial ruin, running off someone important to you, or messing up your health, you can come back from whatever happens.

I have some huge “mistakes” in my life.
But they were all necessary.
If I didn’t bail on a PhD program a decade ago (and there’s an old thread here where I’m victim puking about it as it was happening), I would have never figured out my character flaws and maturity issues that needed addressing.
I don’t believe in mistakes. They’re just unexpected opportunities to learn more about yourself and grow in ways you never imagined.

"stayed in radio too long..."
Maybe.
There is that moment when your airchecks are as good as they are gonna get, your PD is VERY happy with your show (aka you are not one of his problems), and you realize you are not going to be Rick Dees or Kasem, or Pratt.
But you stay in cause its fun and you really enjoy it.
or...
You get out and lease your soul to a 8-5 office for the money, but you have REM dreams of how fun it was in radio 40 years ago.
I dunno...I suspect that at my last minutes on earth I wont be thinking how happy it made me to take the company "to the next level"...lol. But it might be playing "Feelin Satisfied" for the first time with a segue into the two year old "Carry on Wayward Son" ...

At some point, I realized radio didn't love me as much as I loved it. Plus, I wasn't making any money.
The last radio job I had, was only because I needed a job. When I left that one, I swore I'd never depend on radio to make a living again.

As long as you don't make mistakes that result in babies with bad women, everything is recoverable. Don't live in the past, just get better, and don't make the same mistake again.

Wasted too many years hanging out with friend groups that just dragged each other down. Not intentionally, but just people with the same issues, vices, whatever, to the point it became one miserable echo chamber. Too much free time spent in bars.

My dad is full of sage advice. One of my favorites is "don't force anything". This applies to just about every area of life...financial matters, working with tools, people relationships, etc.
