Basic human characteristics? They see everyone around them praise technology. Friends, family, celebrities, their role models, etc. Honestly it comes down on the parents for being lazy & keeping them entertained with video games instead of taking them outside.

I grew up fishing/hunting/camping a lot, so boy scouts would have just meant that I'd get to do that stuff less on my own.

So, the parents are trying but the kids have no interest.

Poor parents.

My 9 year old girl loves hiking, skiing, etc.

I quit Boy Scouts after a year or two.
Fast forward to when I was 18 and a senior in high school, my friends were brought in for questioning. The police department had folders filled with pictures of almost every scout in the bathroom. The guy set up cameras in his bathroom when the scouts would come over. Glad I got out when I did
