I believe that the south had the right to cut ties with DC. The tyrant in DC couldn’t allow that though. Furthermore, the women that were raped and murdered and the children that were murdered were not enemy combatants.
Sherman was just a terrorist.

Well here’s the rub, I guess. If the tyrant in DC would’ve let them leave in the first place there wouldn’t have been any bloodshed. But he just couldn’t let a group of people who wanted to sever ties them do so without a war. So strange how quickly the DC leviathan forgot the whole reason this nation came about.
