Unless a sale is signed off and divesting has made significant progress Trump can’t legally postpone the application ban. If Trump acts outside the law for TikTok he is no different than Biden or Obama.
From the US legal standpoint we are no different today than last night when China unilaterally shut it down.

I know you can’t be talking about republicans winning more seats in 2026 because most republicans support forcing China to divest control of TikTok. The vote was veto proof. Trump gains nothing in elections. Attention span of tiktokers will not even allow them liking Trump very long anyway.

Temu and shein don't have nearly the reach TT does. It's like eradicating ants, destroy the ant pile first where the majority of them are. Not stomping them out one or 15 at a time.
As far as never being on TT, that's me. If you're telling me that the app went from teen girls doing goofy dances and single mothers crying in their cars, to being the premiere destination for free speech (even after what Musk has done for X) I would be shocked. So much so that I don't know if I would commend TT's top brass or stew in the realization that we as humans are too far gone being fricked in the head.

I just can’t believe some of the posters here are so pro communist China. Makes one question where you and others will come down when the war China wants starts.
Do you realize the US law only affects downloading and updating the application? If anything I would have preferred it to have more teeth. It was set up to weed out users over time and eventually force divestiture if China didn’t jump on it immediately while allowing US users to find alternatives. It was not set up to ban US users from accessing IP addresses of tiktok, the tiktok service, or force tiktok to turn off its service to the US. China did the last one all on their own.
China played you with turning off its service to the US and then acting like the law was so confusing that they needed an answer from a President which somehow never came up as it’s CEO was setting up attending the inauguration and communicating with Trump’s transition team (and maybe Trump as well) to suspiciously just happening when china/tiktok made it go dark to get its users’ panties in a was.

I have stated often the true answer is breaking apart big tech as the US govt allowed them to buy too many competitors, getting rid of section 230 protections, and not allow govt accounts on platforms that don’t practice freedom of speech along with not allowing them to receive govt funding. In addition the US needs to pass a nationwide privacy law like the EU and California did.
All that being said I would never sell out and support China for anything. Whatever happens in the US You can bet China is doing a lot worse to its own people along with the people whose info their military wing hackers steal from Us businesses and govt departments. To have to bring up well what about the US when talking about China shows where your loyalty is.

This whole thing is overblown. Tik tok is a subversive pysop tool of our greatest enemy, it is not an American company with any claim to constitutional protection, and there are literally any other apps and websites for people to advertise and monetize from.
