Bingo. In my opinion this is what should have happened after the attacks.
1. President Bush should have addressed the country and made it clear to the world that the U.S. has been attacked by MUSLIM terrorists. From this point forward, the US considers itself at war with all Muslim terrorists, including those states that support those terrorists.
2. Next Bush should have brought together the Joint Chiefs and made it clear to hem they have only two missions (1) Ensuring no more attacks are carried out against the US and (2) totally destroy all terrorist organizations and the states that support them. Wipe them off the face of the earth.
3. Massive strategic Bombing campaigns against targets such as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Hamas, and Hezbollah should begin almost immediately. AS terrorist targets are identified in other areas, they should be taken out as well. And these bombing campaigns should not let up until there was nothing left to bomb.
4. Once the bombing campaigns have run out of targets, Bush should give an address to the Muslim world to tell them that they've got two choices. (1) Stop with all the terrorism and learn to live in peace with the rest of the world or (2) see the entire Middle East and most of Muslim civilization completely wiped out. Let them look at what use to be Iran, Iraq, and the Gaza Strip as examples of what the rest of them can expect unless they change their way of thinking.

You basically are signing off on the killing of thousands upon thousands of innocent Muslims because some people in the "Middle East" were captured on camera celebrating the events of 9/11. As if those images lead to the logical conclusion that there are no innocents in the Middle East. I'd say you're the one with your head up your arse.

I live in the real world. And in the real world there has been only one way since the dawn of civilization to win a war. That's by breaking your enemy's will to continue fighting. We've pussy-footed around for 14 fricking years and it's got us nowhere. The only way to break their will is through overwhelming force that the enemy cannot withstand. Make them see that to continue attacking and fighting us is pointless and can only end with their complete and total destruction. Is it pretty? No. Will a shite ton of people die? Yes. But I'm sorry to break it to you but it's the only way to win a war.
