A public school world geography teacher not knowing the location of the Baltics and the Balkans is a pretty serious indictment of her knowledge of the subject. The question was not about some obscure Afghan village. It was about two large newsworthy heavily populated portions of EUROPE,
I think you may be confusing a primary/secondary teacher with a college professor. A world geography professor should have advanced degrees in the specific subject matter they teach.
A school teacher has a degree in secondary education where they learn teaching techniques, lesson planning, classroom management. They may have a focus on a certain subject matter or just be a general teacher. They teach from one book and give general information.

When there is 80,000 pounds two feet off your back bumper going 80MPH, I certainly hope they are somewhat a professional

By professional I mean like a school teacher, doctor, lawyer, accountant, plant operator, etc.
My cousin Big Marlon says he’s a professional because that’s what the truck driving school said. He holds himself out as a professional truck driver and thinks he’s entitled to professional courtesies. I just don’t consider truck driving to be a professional occupation. What do you think?
The courts see them as "professional drivers." I was told that it puts them in a different category if an accident happens, and can cause them to have more responsibility.
