I've been struggling with infertility for almost 4 years. Looks like I may never have a child and since I'm gonna be 40 this month...my window on motherhood is closing quite rapidly.

That said...if I do get blessed to have a baby I'm not piercing the baby's ears cause I personally believe it isn't necessary and it's just looks really trashy(as many other posters in this thread have shared the same sentiment).

Well that is fine, but you called it child abuse 2 pages ago.

No I didn't. You just got upset at my post cause you don't want to feel like a trashy parent. I only posted a recommendation that a professional organization of pediatricians has regarding piercing (wait until child is older). I also pointed out that there is a risk of infection if you pierce them at a young age. You were the one to freak out over my post. I'm not calling CPS if I see a baby with pierced ears...I'm just gonna think the parents are trashy that is all

Holy shite. In what way does a little girl having her ears pierced look trashy? You are fricking delusional and on the wrong side of this argument judging by your downvotes in this thread.

This.

Our rule of thumb is when she is old enough to take care of them herself, at which point it will become a reward for doing well in school.

I personally do not like to see babies with ears pierced. Trashy to me.

Piercing babies' ears is so incredibly dumb. This word gets thrown around on the Ot a lot but it's trashy AF.

Infants and toddlers with pierced ears is trashy Can't be said enough.

ETA: No one is saying the baby/toddler is trashy..just the parents.

And we are talking about babies and toddlers specifically.

5 people is the minority but you still didn’t answer my question. How does a little girl having her ears pierced ragardless of age make the parents trashy? Your definition of trashy is pretty skewed but frick it i’ll wear the label. Doesn’t make a lick of difference I guess because you won’t actually tell any of the parents that in person

youre right. those of us who aren't trashballs don't associate with parents like that.

Have your own kid and make the decision. Don't call people trashy when they decide to pierce their daughters ears at an early age. 72% of American women have their ears pierced so it's likely to happen anyway.

Some people think waiting to try and have kids when you are 40 is trashy AF.

I get it. I wouldn’t want to associate with anybody who lets their kids decide their gender either

Your reading comprehension sucks.

And I’m allowed to have my opinions and think certain behaviors are trashy.

So many trashy parents getting mad in here.

You really wanna know what's trashy? Being 40 years old and trolling on a message board. Like for real trashy.

Seriously though, whatever floats your boat... its your kid/family and that is the most important part.

Clearly other peoples opinions don't bother you too much.

It’s common across Latin America

I don’t see why you pricks want to shite on a culture for piercing ears out of all things.

Your assumptions suck. Neither of my daughters have their ears pierced. 5 & 7 years old.

What is wrong with you? As I said before it’s common in my wife’s family culture. Does that mean I’ll allow everything that’s in the culture, no. Knowing your prickish self you will say child abuse

You are nothing but an elitist prick, quit being a boring miserable bastard

I hope you never have kids or get married

Don’t worry about these miserable fricks that are close minded about something that’s not a big issue at all.
