All my friends who went to good HBCU's ended up going to non HBCU's for grad school anyway. My friend who went to Morehouse got his MBA from Columbia.
Most the kids who attend the good HBCU's that have legit standards come from upper middle class suburbs so they are used to being in an environment that is not predominantly black.

I never really considered it even after having scolly money thrown at me. Florida A&M was basically talking shite on WVU and South Carolina right to my face when I said those are my top choices.(yes they played the race card)
That campus was a dump and I told my mom right there if I went here i'd just transfer to FSU in a heart beat. Once they didn't show us the dorms my mom was like frick this place.

South Carolina State is completely broke and the state keeps giving them bailouts to keep them open. It is plagued by corrupt administration and low graduation rates. It wouldn't surprise me if Congressman Clyburn is in on it. One of the trustees was recently convicted of more than 12 federal charges. The school needs to be shut down.
There are good HBCUs out there, but many of them are completely useless in 2014.

I worked with an engineer from Southern during my first job out of college. Probably one of the brightest engineers I've worked with.
Other than that, I have no experience with HBCUs.

That's a good point. For those kids, it's probably no big deal. I went to a HS that was 50% black and my neighborhood was similar. It took a while for me to adjust to being one of only a couple black kids in a lot of my classes (particularly upper level courses) at LSU.

That's pretty f'd up, and it's not the first time I've heard of HBCU's (the not so great ones) doing this kind of thing.

That's what happened to a good friend of mine, upper middle class black guy. Smart guy had a lot going for him. Had a great GPA/SAT/ACT score and could of gotten into a lot of places as a minority and gotten full rides.
Unfortunately for him, since he hung with us white kids, his mom thought he was too white and needed to go to a HBCU. He made him some black friends and got arrested for dealing last I heard from him. Such a waste.

Exactly. A white guy I worked with got a full ride to Southern. Southern's admissions process at the time was a known cluster but he had zero issues getting everything squared away

They've outlived their usefulness. However, I'd win the Powerball before any of these, most underperforming, schools are shut down or restructured.

Who's butthurt? I said in my first post in this thread that I personally have no interest in going to an HBCU.
But I'm informed enough to make that decision. You on the other hand are a moron.
