What about Kubota? I have 4 Kubotas and each has been trouble free. Am I just lucky?

Gravely. I bought one a while back and I'm glad I did.

Yes. For the first 5 years or so they did their own thing with the hydraulics and had a LOT of failures on them separating and cracking. At least that was what I heard when I was researching them. But you may have gotten those after they changed over to what everyone else is using now.

I've had a 48" Scag for 17 years. Had it resleeved about 3 yrs ago. I use it to mow 1 acre. I use it about 45 min/week for 40 weeks a year. Every spring I change the oil and filter, and sharpen the blades. Paid $5k for it new. It's been worth it. Starts every time provided battery isn't dead.

If you want a beautiful lawn and you don't want to be tracking wet grass and leaves into your house all the time, Walker.
Walker.
Walker.
There are other Zero Turns that will bag but it bags with an attachment that will make your zero-turn more cumbersome. It's also an added cost to the price and isn't as robust as the Walker GHS

Just bought a Cub Cadet 50" cut. My last Cub lasted 13 years. Advice: keep the oil changed and the blades new annually.

Hustler. Get a FastTrak if they still make them. Do your homework the models vary a good bit on quality vs price.

Stay away from the box looking fab deck. The more it looks like a box the worse the cut, lacks air flow, and clumps at high speeds. It hampers you being able to cut at higher speeds.
No offense but this might be the worst advice I have ever read on a message board.
Clumps at high speed??? Yes, if I am pushing 11mph on my Gravely in thick damp grass, it may kick out some clumps but I am going 11mph. If I want it to look extra nice, I can slow down a little and cut just as nice as any slow mower out there.
You know what you can't do with a slow mower with a stamped deck? Go 11mph which is important when you gotta cut your grass this evening and the rain is coming.
Hell, my last cub cadet with the stamped deck would disengage the blade when in reverse.

One of the problems is the big box stores are populated with mostly inferior mowers with the same name as the good commercial ones. I think that pretty much all the good commercial mowers out there will mow at speed and cut/throw grass just fine. And you're right about cutting speed being nice. Mine tops at 10 but it's fast enough to almost feel out of control on my long sections. Reverse mow is nice also.
I personally stayed away from any made by briggs and Stratton. That eliminated quite a few including the suspension one.
