Only in pictures. It’s the same size as the bb58 but it’s as thick as the Pelagos. I’m not sure I like those dimensions.
ETA: I would've purchased a BB58 if the bezel insert was ceramic. No idea why they aren't.

Looks like a replacement insert. Inserts can sell for several thousand dollars. Hard to tell if dial is replacement without clearer images. The tritium is really white in the photos. Could be lighting though. Believe a 1961 would have a gilt dial.

Rolex says I have alot of money but know nothing about watches.
I got tired of buying watches. I wear them every day and am apparently very hard on them. I bought a Rolex
day/date just (SS W/ Gold) and have been wearing it damn near every day for over 15 years.
Wear it in the shower, GOM, Lake Pontchartrain, while sailing/boating/fishing.... This thing has been bullet-proof.
Went in to buy my wife a ring and walked out with the Rolex.
She reminds me of that one from time to time.

Buddy of mine won a brand new "Yachtmaster" at a benefit. He won it on the chicken drop.

I’m far from an expert on these but it looks to me like the dial, insert and hands have been replaced. If it was all done with genuine Rolex parts I would say it is probably worth $8000. The 24 hr hand should be a small triangle I would think. It’s not uncommon for all of these items to have been replaced by Rolex at service over the years. But collectors are looking for period correct parts.

I have stainless date just and have owned it since 2003. Hate that damned watch. It costs on average $500 every 5 years to recondition it. (It just stops if you don't) It also never keeps accurate time.
You got a fake Rolex. LOL

Oyster Perpetual about 6 years ago, wore it for about 2 years then got an Apple watch. Now the Rolex, Longines, and TAG x2 are sitting in a watch winder box.

Do you have a better picture of the crown guards or know if they are pointed?

Almost surely a set of service hands and likely a service dial too. Was service at RSC, or an independent watchmaker? If it was done at RSC, unless the service cert is faked, you have your answer on legit or no. Also, if you laid eyes on the service documentation, you could reach out to that particular watchmaker as well, if not RSC (Rolex Service Center).

Out of sheer curiosity, what do you do for a living? Or what field are you in?
My occupation is really irrelevant to my collection since every penny of money I have put into watches occurred years ago when I was in college, grad school, and the first couple of years I worked. I just happened to start collecting a particular type of watch that at the time nobody wanted but a dozen years later the market exploded and "everyone" wanted them. This is maybe the time when being comfortable financially did have an impact because instead of pocketing the money I treated it like found money and bought other watches I liked. It just so happened a decent number of those were watches that are now considered "it" watches.
My collection is a result of blind luck, not prescience or bank account.

I don't know those GMTs well either but the date insert stood out to me, along with the dial and hands. The bezel also has near "perfect" aging which in today's market usually brings up the hairs on my neck. The more I look at it the date wheel may be fine but I have a gut feeling multiple parts are replacements (service parts). That doesn't mean it isn't worth 8K since a good example with the bracelet will be over 20k. I think he needs to find someone that knows the particular model before spending the money.

Hard to tell if it is silver or white. Kind of looks white in the photos.

One day I’m gonna get one to match the diamond studded ankle bracelet that I haven’t decided on yet
I do still have the pocket watch I used before everything in the world started telling me what time it is

It's coming from a watch repair guy that finds great deals on older folks who want to sell their rolexes. This one was serviced by someone locally who only works on rolexes. He said it was legit
Thanks for the input

My watch guy brought this rolex to his rolex service shop here locally. They said it was legit. Originally the owner just wanted to service it and keep it -- now they just want to dump it

Great looking watch. Any way to get independent appraisal?

Yeah, the thickness has been a concern for some.
