There are only a few bohemian cultures in the USA.
they are centers of art, music, dance, major universities and people of all races are pretty much accepted.

They are all in the north.
Boston harvard. bohemian area near Harvard.
NYC first class opera, symphonies, Columbia, NYU, every cultural artifact known to man.
Philadelphia Penn, an area near Penn, 2nd class citizen to NY, but pretty good
Washington DC Dupont circle all the arts you can shake a stick at
Pittsburgh Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, Shadyside, decent art.
Chicago SECOND ONLY TO NYC. NW, U of Chicago. entire north side is bohemian, all the major dance companies have their home base there. opera, a great symphony.
SF UC-Berkeley, Stanford, gay rights, women in positions of power, opera, a good symphony, and several minor symphonies, film and music. a teeny house costs a million bucks. that's what you get when you have all that culture and no snow.
That's it.
SF is the only one where it does not snow. Property values are through the roof.
Maybe "bohemian cultures" are reasons for some to avoid the north? Not everyone seeks out foo foo stuff. Since when is the amount of foo foo shite the standard by which we judge quality of life in a certain locale?

Yeah but for my ancestors that was the 1600's.

I'm from the north and in the winter I sometimes wonder the same thing. It is hard to move away from family when you are raised here. Minnesota however, was just named the best state to live in the nation. We have great schools, health care, and lakes. Winters are miserable, but spring, summer, and fall are wonderful. We also don't have to listen to redneck hick sounding southern drawls.
The interesting thing is that the bottom seven WORST states to live are all in the south.

Right. Instead, everyday you walk around listening to the accent from the movie Fargo.

Loved driving through MN last February. Brutal winter.

Southerners really do love to pump up their chest over this nonsense.

If only they really knew what non Southern states really think about them.

I actually think Minnesota is a cool state, but are you seriously making fun of southern accents? People in glass houses...

That movie was a joke. I've lived in the north my whole life and never heard anyone one talk like that.

I actually love those southern accents. I was just replying in jest to the northern hater. I also love visiting the south. You have the friendliest people I've ever met. I'm also jealous of your winters. Maybe when I retire I'll move there in the winter. It would be the best of both worlds and I love watching SEC football.
