So NOLA residents, what are your top 2 or 3 rules of thumb for being street smart and avoiding crimes?

I'm looking for things like: don't go to the quarter after such and such time, don't walk from the quarter to the Marigny after nightfall, take Uber, etc.

Per capita statistics are retarded anyway. If some little po dunk town has 100 people in it and 5 violent crimes were committed you think it's more dangerous than NO that has them happen on a daily basis but no they have way more people so it can't be. frick no. Nobody can help the population increases, it's still violent as frick

Don't do what people tell you not to do, and you should be good

Also, don't get too drunk

I'm not a NOLA resident but my rule of thumb for new Orleans is my same rule of thumb for avoiding pregnancy and STD's: ABSTINENCE. The only real effective way to avoid murder and murder related illnesses is to stay OUT of that wretched city

My father was killed in 1986 while selling fruit in the streets of new orleans. Maybe that's why I'm so cautious about that damn city...
He died of a heart attack but there's no doubt it was brought on by the threat of the gang violence

Huh? So where's the risk if you can guarantee their safety?

Look, if you want to be a daredevil I'm not stopping you. But as for me, even if the odds are 0 in a million that my family could be harmed, I'm still not taking that chance. What if my little girl was that 0?

You're really going to troll a thread about a very recently murdered saints player?

I'm sorry for your loss. I didn't realize selling fruit could have such deadly consequences.

Same as anywhere else, I bring family for 3 nights once a year and wife and I go to a saints game and stay 2 nights once a year also. I've basically spent about a week in NO altogether for at least 15 years, have not one time had a problem. Biggest rule of thumb is don't talk shite to anyone, don't be too damn drunk and alone in a low populated area, again, same as most big cities. It's not smart, but wife and I have walked down some streets all alone no telling how many times at night and still have been fine.

I hear people complaining in lots of places about out of control violence in the streets and the criminal justice system who is letting people put left and right and then I hear Democratic candidates complaining about over policing of minoroties and how the criminal justice system
