So he did ok a bald joke at the expense of his wife for this whole publicity stunt? It would involve at least Chris Rock and Will Smith. I'm not sure what Chris Rock (a guy who is famous enough to be the host of The Oscars again) would have to gain from agreeing to the bit. And Will Smith has been a star for a long time and was nominated already for an Oscar, so it's not like he needed to drum up more publicity for himself.
As I said before, anything is possible in weird Hollywood, but I'm not seeing the payoff here for those two if it was staged.

I just don't see what either of them have to gain from it by agreeing to do such a stunt. Yeah you get some publicity, but for Smith, he comes off looking really, really bad. Now not only is he a cuckold, but he couldn't knock out - or even knock down - a much smaller guy with an open-handed slap. How does he benefit in any way?
Chris Rock on the other hand looks like Billy Badass - ate the slap and kept right on going, without so much as batting an eye.

I dont find calling out Hollywood for possibly pulling a publicity stunt (forget "why" they would do it, or do it this way, etc) and pointing out legions of people that lap anything they see on a Hollywood produced TV screen up as truth hypocritical.

I have been called stupid, and many other names in this thread for merely stating my opinion.
I have not belittled anyone, quite the opposite, the shite is flying at me.
People are calling me names and disparaging me because they just cant find any scenario in their head where this could be staged. When in truth there's many different reasons that it could be. The outright dismissal, then name-calling is not from me.
