If you absolutely do not have to be anywhere this morning, stay home a few more hours. Seriously.

I am not sure things will improve to much with the low temps... It will get above freezing for a few hours but not long enough to make much difference. Whatever does melt will refreeze after dark and through the night... The commute will be the same way tomorrow as today...

Really? Because I thought it getting up to 40 or so today would help the roads clear out from all that moisture and tomorrow morning we may have the low temps but won't see any moisture

It will get to maybe 39. But the wind chill will still be in the low to mid 20's... And it wont be above freezing for a long enough time to melt enough away. IMO/

Is HWY 11 open from Slidell to Nola? I am debating on making an attempt to work today from the northshore. I can't find any info about it being closed on Nola.com or the LADOTD website so I'm assuming it's open.

I totally doubt that. The ground under the road ways will warm them up enough to melt the ice as temps rise today. Most of the moisture on the roads up here is already drying up. Bridges and over passes will warm with the rising temps. By this afternoon I bet every thing will be open and free flowing again. Then it will stay that way.

WDSU just said that HWY 11 is open. I was debating the same thing but I really don't want to be stuck at the office when everything refreezes.

I don't think so...however the overpass which goes over I10 is closed I believe...also probably the section going over Airline

In other words, raised bridges generally closed. Surface streets ok

I dont understand all these people that were stranded on the roadways! Like they knew it was coming..why be out? Why would law enforcement let these people be out and about? Just straight stupid...This is why they call for these curfews and closures so early and people get mad when nothing is going on weather wise yet they are preparing for the worse...always prepare for the worse...ATL is dumb!
