There was no money set aside to build it. That’s why they’ve been studying it for 20 years.

You know…I really don’t need something to take me through Baton Rouge. Can we do something where an autobahn type road peels off I-10 around Grosse Tete and takes to straight across the river to Geismer/Convent region?

You Baton Rouge People
Please stop being lazy asses and get off your duffs and build another bridge across the Mississippi.
We've been trying for a long time, but dumb arse legislators from North & Southwest LA kept voting against it, because they didn't see why their tax dollars should go to pay for a bridge in Baton Rouge. Then all North Louisianans bitch every time they have to drive through Baton Rouge. It's a visous cycle. Can't build it with unicorn farts, it takes money. And you can rest assured that Louisiana politicians know well how to spend your money.

Kip Holden had alot of momentum going for a new bridge back in the early 2000's, but he Iberville Parish President was against it unless it was built in his parish. Kip didn't have the full support of the state legislature & governor back then either, so it fell apart. To think it might be close to being built now if that push had been sucessful. RIP Kip Holden

Not just the traffic, which is absurd and there is no excuse for it, but also for the deplorable conditions of the interstates and surface streets. The conditions of the interstates alone I believe can largely be attributed to the amount of trucks on it, and if you could simply divert those alone to their own bridge and interstate, paid for via a toll paid for by the trucking lines, that would serve everyone best. Houston does it without the need for a toll booth with tags. Why can’t something similar be done here and mandate trucks take it instead? They’re the ones beating the heck out of the roads. Why not make them foot the bill?

I built a bridge out of matchsticks in elementary school that held up at least 5 lbs... I got you, homey.
