meh, when you pay cash you save on interest and headache if you get into a jam you don't have to worry about a car payment, just invest your money and if you want to buy something, liquidate and pay cash

We just traded an Explorer Sport for a Cadillac Xt6. The Ford cost us 5K the 5 year we owned it. All out of warranty with low miles. The computer, rack and pinion and airbag wiring harnesses all had to be changed.
I will never own another Ford as long as I live. I know you are talking about a Lincoln. I assume it is the same from a quality standpoint.
The new Explorers are even worse than the generation you had.

How do you like it? They look very comfortable.

Looking at both of these and can't quite decide which one to pull the trigger on.
Would vote Denali (I’m a GM guy), but both are excellent choices.
And I 100% support paying cash.

If you invest in things that return profit, it is idiotic to pay $100k cash when a near free line of credit is given to you to make the purchase. You will save peanuts on interest and lose many multiples of that savings in opportunity cost.

Anyone that pays cash for a vehicle with the interest rates available is an idiot with money. Everyone make fun of the 8 year loans, but its the smart play with the way interest rates are.
It’s amazing that people don’t get this shite. I’d finance a car on a ten year note if they would let me. $0 down.

I will always understand the perspective of peace of mind being debt free and the argument for it; however, like above, people need to realize there's a way to take advantage of debt to maximize your return on every dollar you have. Paying cash will typically not net return you the best bang for your buck but many Americans are either to ignorant or don't have the self control to manage debt.

Last time I will offer advice... you can buy a 2019 of those vehicles with the trim you mentioned for over 20k less than prices you mentioned..and get a better than original warranty.... CPO for luxury cars you want to own is they way...was probably leased to a Corp executive for a year...can do even better and still get full warranty if you pick up a 3 year old one that was also probably leased to Corp exec...to be a cpo the auto company goes over them in detail before certified...they are on the hook for repairs while you drive it an under their warranty...
You buy it new and you lost 20k when you drive it off the lot....

My parents have a 2020 Navigator and it is probably one of the nicest SUVs I have ever been in

The lincoln has a more luxury feel i guess in the interior.
Navi is a much better looking vehicle IMO plus it’s been in production a little longer, so not as much growing pains. Stellar engine as sell.

The 1/2 ton Duramax does
100% False.
The 3.0L inline six Duramax has a chain driven camshaft that will last the life of the vehicle and a wet belt driven oil pump with a service interval of 150,000+ miles.
By comparison, the Ford 3.0L V6 Powerstroke has a timing belt that will need to be replaced every 75,000-100,000 miles. Not to worry, because a lot of those engines are being replaced before that. Ford borrowed this design from Jaguar/Land Rover instead of developing a truck engine themselves. They are known for imploding because of pervasive valve train issues.
No question that the Duramax engine is better. It’s the best half ton diesel by a long shot right now. Even the VM 3.0L Ram is better than the Ford.

The new Explorers/Aviators are really screwed up. They were shipping the entire car from their factory in Illinois to Detroit for repairs. They cars would literally break before they’d ship to the dealers.

I personally preferred the Infiniti QX 60 but my wife was in love with the XT6 and the ride. The ride is better in the Caddy.
It is a very sweet riding vehicle. Got it for 6k less than sticker and 0% financing.

You made the right choice. The QX60 is a solid car, but it also has a Jatco CVT and an ancient infotainment system. The next gen model will be here soon with a 9 speed auto.
The XT6 has the Direct Injection DOHC 3.6L V6 used in the Buick products. It had some teething issues a while back, but those were resolved by 2015/2016. It’s turned into a very good engine. The rest of the car is mostly an extended version of the XT5, which is itself a solid car.
We might get an Acura MDX or Cadillac XT6 type vehicle next summer. Also may look at a Highlander Platinum. The Cadillac looks the best between the three of those.

Easily the most generic looking caddy made. Why would anyone buy this? It looks like every other crossover. Caddy really missed the mark with this.

Cadillac dealers (and customers) were begging for a 3 row version of the popular XT5. That’s what they got with the XT6, which has the same wheelbase, dash, and powertrain as the XT5. Lexus did something similar with the RX350L when their customers wanted a 3rd row seat.
They didn’t want to upset loyal customers, so they basically just made a longer version of an existing car that people already liked. It’s low risk from Cadillac’s perspective, and it pleases their the customers that needed a 3rd row seat but didn’t want a massive SUV like an Escalade.
The XT6 has more room in the third row than the competitors (Lexus RX-L, Volvo XC90, Acura MDX, etc), which is why they sell pretty well. I like the way they look, but I have never liked the more racy designs like the CTS-V.
