Read down in another one of my posts. I agree with you. We need to do this, that and the other. But you can't cut off what we use now. We have wrangled it in so tight that the only option is to go deeper and well, that is risker. Oil is now, natural gas is a buffer, Nuclear is a right now source that we refuse to use becuase of 3 mile Island over 25 years ago. I agree sooner or later something has to be created. But it is not near anything we can call substance. So what are you going to give up to answer the call to stop drilling now? It can't be done... now.

Oh and Tar sands is very dependent on economics, Oil goes down below a certain point, they take that idea off the table.

That is good info BR, thanks. Those numbers don't mean much since they don't take hours worked into account, though. You need to be able to compare rates, like you said.

I was hoping to do some comparisons like you stated, but I've had 2 pre-job start up meetings today, and a 2 hour NPDES "review" meeting yesterday, and just haven't had the time to put the data together.

That's a good website to look at. Also, the [link=(EPA)]https://www.epa.gov/[/link], [link=(OSHA)]https://www.osha.gov/[/link] and [link=(MMS)]https://www.mms.gov/[/link] websites should be able to give detailed data, if you have the time to navigate through the pages. I've got another meeting to run off to.

Yea, lets use one of our major food sources as fuel. What happens to all those batteries that are used once they are past their life cycles?

Tommy he is talking about Ethanol. Corn. I saw a show on ethanol and did not know that like 90% of corn is not edible, only a specific type is. But with government subsidizing this industry, the fear is that the corn for consuption farmers will opt to grow corn for the government subsidies.

We need to drill more. I love John Kerry getting up and saying we need to stop, but he doesn't want windmills up near UMass because it destroys his view of the ocean. Cap and Trade and global warming is total horseshite. If it were really true, then why is Gore traveling by private jet, thus damaging the earth even more than if he got his arse in a prius and drove where he needed to go. They are all hypocrits. We should drill everywhere we can. If we don't, someone else will, i.e. China and India. It is just a matter are we going to benefit or will our enemies benefit. I would rather us benefit. Yes, if we stopped, no tv's, not computers, not cellphone, and that is just the electronics. We need to use what we have until a viable alternative is available. We have far more oil spills from tankers than oil rigs. If we need oil and don't want to drill, how do these assclowns think we are going to import this? Duh, via tanker. Some people have no common sense and just push their own agenda, when they know damn well what needs to be done.

Yeah the left is pretty comical. They are so all over the map. No clue on energy policy. Just wait till the cameron diazs' and eddie veders' of the world start their stupid tree hugging hippy liberal shite on tv....

Bush hates black people....

Well then I guess Obama hates Lousiana.

Sort of like ESPN hates LSU

Hell no I don't oppose more drilling. I wish we could pump 100% or our oil from GOM. However, this particular well is a problem. Every question BP has been asked about equipment and or safety devices their answer is: we don't know, its never been done at this depth. Well hell. Test the damn shite at those depths before you bore a fricking hole in the earths crust opening up hell into the GOM. Failure by our government as well to not regulate that shite.
