But I've said all along that the only way for something to get done and heat is put on BP is to have the oil affect other states.
Sad thing is, those sandy beaches will be many times easier to clean up, than the shite we have to deal with.

Anybody on this board over 30? I know it is nasty and it sucks but the picture of the Gulf Shores beach reminded me of Galveston, High Island ect... beaches in Texas back in the 70's. Pop would make us wear tennis shoes (the little black ones with the 3 white stripes on the side and white soles) on the beach and while swimming. When we would load back up in the big Station Wagon to head back to Houston, we had to put our shoes in a bag because they were covered in oil.
So essentially, I ain't worried about the beaches, they can be cleaned. I am freakin Stressed about the Marsh, seafood and the people who's lives are being screwed with by this disaster.

Yep i agree with you. We or fixing to see this go to a whole new level now
I have spent a lot of time in area affected like Port Fourchon and Grand Isle the past couple of weeks and have talked to many. BP still controls everything and the general consesus is a favorable opinion of BP but blasting the govt. BP is even instructing officials what to say during the various press conferences.
Pressure will be put on BP and pressure on the feds to have BP pick up the cleaning efforts.

Riley or Jindal? Can you elaborate on what was said....you said they closed the beaches or are going to do so today?
Posted on 6/4/10 at 4:45 pm to eye65
Riley, but I don't understand a damn thing he's saying. It sounded like he crawfished on the waters being closed right now. Said he just got back from meeting with the prez.

Yes, which is mind boggling there hasnt been much resistance and anger towards BP.
Its very depressing indeed! The wetlands provide so much but very few understand their importance.

no kidding. i can't believe tony hayward is going out in NOLA for dinner (when he ran into carville)...think i would be ordering take out to the hotel room. should have heard this guy's statements on the investor conference call this morning. said he had been called a few names but nothing too bad had happened... followed that with a "sticks and stones..." well you know the rest.
BP CEO

it's obvious why......direct rage towards anyone except the industry's hand that feeds you. It's pretty dishonest, imo.

yeah LA will be mitigating the cleanup long after other state's barrier islands become recreationally stable

I expect them to be fully reimbursed from BP considering 60% of their income comes in 3 months June July and August.
Posted on 6/4/10 at 6:35 pm to Mudminnow
by the time the get paid the house will be sold or foreclosed. No one will get paid until they sue and that will last a long time 8-10 years.
Posted on 6/4/10 at 6:57 pm to King
WOW. The media would show a picture of Alabama that had kids playing in the oil...what the hell is wrong with these people...Holy Christ.

With all due respect, I fear that more than a few beach residents lives will be screwed by this disaster. Ecologically speaking the Marshes will be far more difficult to clean. Economically all of the gulf will suffer. People's way of life will change.
