Does anyone know what the rules are as far as running through the closed areas? Will they mess with you coming in with fish?

Ex: Leave Fourchon, head through closed state and federal waters on my way to the west side of green canyon

The fishing closure maps are interesting. Its closed on the barrier islands south of Cocodrie. But have heard numerous reports of LDWF and Coast Guard kicking fisherman out of canals 1/2 mile from Coco Marina and LUMCON. According to the map that area should very well be open.

I posted this on the Cocodrie report

I just found out a friend of a friend was fishing in around the bay st. elaine area and was approached by WLF and told to stop fishing in that area. That area doesn't appear closed per the maps but I guess it's left up to interpetation.

He had 1 fish after 3 hours of fishing.

From that map Bay St. Elaine would be right on the closure line. You would pretty much have to fish from where bayou Petite Caillou meets the Deepwater channel North. You are already well into Terrebonne Bay when you are on the edge of Pelto.

As far as i know, they are not closed to navigation. the captains on rodnreel have been reporting catches in GC. However, I don't know if it's worth the risk of running through that stuff....if you are going to GC, then you obviously have a big expensive boat, and i've heard that the oil is tough on intakes and cooling systems and a bitch on the gel-coat!

Isn't Green Canyon inside the Federal closure block?

Looks to me like the closure extends around 100 miles south of Fourchon.

Yeah, i'll be further than 100, in the Mad Dog area.
The oil on the hull is a problem, though.
