Hi Gang.

Like so many others, I've been intensely following the terrible situation in the Gulf & very much hope that the current efforts with the Top Kill procedure will eventually stop the runaway underwater oil gusher. What a sad & terrible tragedy has been caused by some impatient BP execs who insisted on cutting some corners just to save a few bucks, rather than take a more modest approach that probably would have prevented the loss of human life & also such distress to so many people throughout the entire Gulf area.

And I really wanted to say a special "Thank You!" to a bunch of the excellent posters around here who actually have experience in the petroleum industry, as well as those who have been kind enough to pass along some very important "insider" tidbits to the rest of us.

The very good discussions & posts that are found here are a much needed tonic to the often RIDICULOUS nonsense put out by so many of the T.V. mediots. As an example, those 2 CLOWNS who were interviewed recently on MSNBC (a putrid excuse for a news outlet) made several utterly irresponsible statements that never should have been allowed to hit the public airwaves. Plus, neither one of them have any hands-on drilling experience, and are merely management "suits" who obviously like to hear the sound of their own voices. Quite a contrast to several of the folks around here & elsewhere who have actually worked & sweated to help bring all the much-needed energy to the rest of the nation (and there are several good 'uns on The Oil Drum website as well).

Don't have the tiniest nibble of any insider info myself, so I hope some of the rest of you might be able to share some more good stuff whenever you deem it appropriate to do so.

And, of course, there is NO doubt that this Tigerdroppings.com website is not only the BEST dang LSU fan board I've seen anywhere, it's also the source of lots of good info as well, such as this special Oil Rig Disaster Forum.

Thanks a bunch for letting the rest of us share in the info & discussions. And, believe it or not, I'm one of the many long-time Bama fans who has always kinda liked you crazy LSU fans and your unique "style" of going about things. No doubt, that's probably been helped a great deal by those stunning Golden Girls who always "bring it" mighty fine during SEC football games.

Let's all keep PRAYING and hoping. If this Top Kill thing can finally plug that spewing leak, it'll go a long way towards helping everyone to continue their diligent efforts with the difficult recovery process.

And I'm also about to watch LSU play Vandy in baseball in just a bit.

Go Top Kill, Geaux LSU, and RTR!

Thanks Tom. Appreciate the kind words and support.

That's the nicest thing I've said to a Bama fan in years.

COTiger,

I really mean it, I really do. And YOU, my friend, have been VERY generous to share those great tidbits with those of us who are so very concerned about the horrible mess in the Gulf. Hope your good buddy & his teammates will soon bring this very important Top Kill operation to a very successful conclusion.

I've been going to the Gulf Shores area since I was a small child, and the very thought that all of the beautiful beaches and ALL of the many jobs associated with the entire Gulf region might be seriously damaged for years to come is something that just makes me SICK.

So, let's just hope & pray that things will soon greatly improve, and that the sustained damage to the water & land for all involved won't be too severe in the coming Summer months.

All the best. Now let's go cheer for the LSU baseball team for awhile.

Tom, I know you meant it and I appreciate your kind words and support. Trust me when I tell you it means a lot.

And as I've said previously, I'm just a Tiger fan who happens to know someone close to the situation.
