Just arrived in Perdido Key on Friday the 9th, beaches look good, people swimming and on beaches BUT have noticed less people here this year! Workers are set up and ready to clean pretty much around the clock but havent seen them actually working much and not sure what there is to clean as havent even seen 1 tar ball yet!

Just returned from 9 days in Perdido Key, Fort Walton and Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. Gulf was very rough with bad weather for first few days then cleared up...very nice for last 3-4 days.

Perdido Key - Some tar balls but not very many and water clarity was good.

Fort Walton Beach - Zero tar balls and water clarity was very good.

Orange Beach/Gulf Shores - More tar balls and boom later in the week at OB. Water clarity was OK to good mid-week.

National Media are killing these people.

Just got back yesterday from OB. Lots of small tar balls, no smell. I hope these BP cleanup jobs don't count towards Obama's job creation numbers. I watched a trailer load full of workers sit for 4 hours without even touching the sand. About 10 workers actually did some cleaning...and not very good cleaning either. I heard they were paying these folks $18/hr. to do this work. That is unbelievable!

These pics are a little dated, but I figured some might want to see them. They were taken on the 4th.

Just got back yesterday from Pheonix 8 in Orange Beach. They shut the Gulf down at 10:00 on Sat night. There was oil in the water the entire time and crews on the beach.

I was supposed to go to Gulf State Park with the RV next Thursday. Glad I changed my plans to MS pine country.

I went down for the Buffet Concert on July 11th and the beaches looked better than I was expecting. Their was a thin line (about a half a centimeter wide) of brown oil left as the waves came up and rolled back, but you'd only see about three lines at a time.

We spotted a few tar balls, but they were very small and few and far between. Only about the size of a bottle cap and the thickness of a matchbook.

It was like that in front of our condo about two miles east of gulf state park. Then we walked from the pier at gulf state park to the concert ( I'm guessing about two miles west of the pier) and it was the same the whole way.

I wouldn't have hesitated to get in the water at all.

I'm in OB now, near Phoenix. Double red flags flying. More so for oil than surf. Although I haven't seen any in front of our house. A lot of crews and equipment. We've just conducted business as usual with our set up on the beach except we just go up to the pool to cool off instead of getting in the gulf.

I just got back yesterday from Gulf Shores. Stayed 14th-19th. Weather was pefect, no oil and the only tar balls I saw were in the water. There were a lot of people swimming in the ocean everyday. Couldn't have asked for a better trip.
