If hair helps absorb oil...

Think of how many labs (dogs) are in louisiana/ the gulf coast...and any lab owner knows how much they shed around this time of year...would it be a good idea for lab owners (or any owner of a shedding dog) to donate the shedded hair to help out our coast line?
I got this idea from brushing my dog and was amazed at the amount of hair that was collected...
Has this Idea been thought of yet?

hair absorbs oil AND water, thereby it sinks and does no good. please don't shave your dog

Hey, maybe this is the real reason why we see pics of various birds that are oil-soaked. They're just doing their part to save the environment.
