Oil cleanup wasting plastic bags?

Has anyone received an answer or know why they scoop one shovel of sand in these plastic bags and they tie it up and dispose, rather than filling them up?
Are they going to collect them all, and at some point dump them on the doorstep of BP Headquarters ala Miracle on 34th Street?

b/c sand is heavy. Fill them up too much and they will be a bitch to carry or could bust.

the bag can only handle 20 pounds of weight supposedly. they are only putting one scoop of sand in each. pretty much they just want to say they cleaned up a hell of a lot more than they actually are.

I understand that, but could they at least do 2 scoops?

the workers on the beach in grand isle arent doing shite. they work for MAYBE 10 minutes an hour and sit under the tent the rest of the hour

It is all about safety. Bags when loaded are often tossed 5 foot in the air to get in whatever they are moving them with. 10 pounds get heavy doing that after a bunch of reps.
The 10 minutes on and 50 off thing all has to do with the heat.
Both things mentioned are safety issues and are to avoid lawsuits.

I bitched about this a few weeks ago.
When I was at perdido it seemed like they would put less than a shovel full in the bags. There is something shady going on here. Whether its a money issue (getting paid by the bag), for show issue (hey news team look how many bags we picked up) or some other B.S., I don't know.

I can understand that filling those bags full would be too heavy. With that said, if they are only going to fill the bags with two scoops, why not use smaller bags?

aren't we talking about union workers here? we're lucky if they have the time to put any scoops inbetween their poo poo breaks, OSHA meetings, morning break, afternoon break, lunch in kennah, and facebook internet sessions.

Who in the frick is concerned about how much sand is put in a bag, when our very existence is at strake ,as a result of BIG "O" sitting on his arse
