2014 Honda Rancher 420 question

While riding in auto I would get a blinking dash on the indicator. It would also kill and not start back up because it wasn’t in N. Push it back and forth and the dash would go away and start up. Doing some research thought about changing the sensor assy. Anyone ever had these issues

What type of light is blinking?

It’s a solid line where the N or D would be on left side. No light

So it’s getting stuck between gears, I’m not super savvy with the AT models, but I see a bunch of people complaining about the shift motor and the grease getting sticky over time, angle sensor and simply just an old battery. I understand you’ve probably done research, but I’d check relays and wiring associated with the shifter. Sorry I can’t be of more assistance.

Step one check battery voltage. No weak battery allowed.
Step two check grounds.
Step three work the shifter buttons repeatedly and make it shift a lot more than usual.
Step four are you running the correct weight wet clutch oil, at the proper fill level, and an oem filter (likely the cheapest these days).
Step five sensor.
Step six motor.
Step 1-4 are mandatory.

Agree with this, a weak battery can make electronics do silly things. I just finished trouble shooting my lawnmowers electrical system and pto switch because I couldnt get it to engage consistently. Turns out it was a weak battery that didn't have the "juice" to properly engage the clutch.

I have the same bike that does the same thing. We figured out if you slide the red kill switch to the side and turn the key to the on position the "dash" will go away.

Bike would start but battery was low. Have it on a 4 amp low charge now for the day to see how it acts
