Traveling for a family vacation. Are there any weird laws I need to know about in LA, MS, or AL that could cause me grief if pulled over?

This should help you out. Reciprocity Map
As long as you have a permit from Texas you'll be fine in Alabama.
I live next to Lake Martin, BTW. Lake Martin is beautiful. Welcome to the area.

Thanks for the link and yes I have a CC permit with TX.
We are staying on the east side near Dadeville. I plan to shoot down to Auburn to workout while I'm there. Looks like a great area.

You’ll be fine. You’re traveling through some of the most gun friendly states.
My brother has a house on the Dadeville side. We go 6-8 times a year. Beautiful area and Lake Martin is a lot of fun. The Sunsets on the western side are great.
Grab an cocktail and a bite to eat a Chucks Pizza if you are close.

You’re good to go in Alabama.
No permit needed for concealed or open carry.

Had a good friend who left Dallas, and moved to Dadeville back when Direct TV started up , He contracted to install dishes out in the country, all around there. He did them for nice houses, but a lot of them were for mobile homes. He had to dig a hole and put up telephone poles for them. I think his dad was running a convenience store and ran another business on the side. His dad may have been from that area.
