Done that. Endless headaches
Try just sticking you toe in the water gently by putting a Camper top on your (fullside) truck. Put thick pad and carpet inside. Get your pillows and mattress and pack your fish fryer. Travel local where good public campsights have clean bathrooms and showers. Set up a dummy tent in the tent section and sleep In the Camper. No Bears or snakes for me. That way you can leave every evening to the store and get your ribeye steak for supper.
This way allows you a taste of camping without spending the $60,000 you'll pay out your arss.
You might take the little lady with you.

Once you reconcile yourself to the fact that you spent a bunch of money on something you will constantly need to repair, you’re fine.
I feel it’s better than having a vacation house somewhere that I constantly have to insure/pay tax/worry about - and I prefer it to staying in someone else’s home or bed.
