I sautéed some of those chants last night and threw em on some ribeyes. Absolutely delicious. Best mushroom I've ever eaten, by far.
They are outstanding in taste and texture. I like to sauté them in butter with crawfish tails or shrimp.

Outside of Tallahassee. I just picked probably 5 pounds and left a lot of small ones. There were also a lot past their prime. I may have found a honey hole. It is very snaky getting to it but I don’t have to hit asphalt to get to there from my house. It’s a lot of fun finding them. It also a reason to be in the woods this time of year. Thanks OB for turning me on to these awesome fungi.

What’s the best way to clean them. I used a toothbrush last time. There was still a little grit.

hell yeah dude.
I just went to the gas station and on the way I noticed some off the side of the road. I pulled over and walked around some brush and they were freaking everywhere. Just filled up another big bag. This is amazing.

I just try to pick any visible piece of dirt off, and then wash them under cold water, then immediately dry them with a paper towel. If they are pretty dirty then I think you are good with using the toothbrush and water.

I use a brush and just trim off the really dirty parts.

Went back today. Not nearly as good of a haul. It’s probably 1-2 pounds. I did find 2 indigo milk caps. Anyone familiar with them? I happened to read an article on edible mushrooms and saw pictures just before I set out.

I went back to the spot that I found Friday and filled another bag up. Its a honey hole for sure. I hope that no one buys that lot and develops it. Hell, maybe I need to look into buying it
Indigo milk caps are edible, and cool as hell looking, but that's about all I got on those. Last weeks chanterelles were actually my first foray into picking, cooking, and eating my own mushrooms. I plan on branching out from here going forward.

Any tips on where i can go around BR to look for some of these? My dad picked some in the swamp when I was a kid while we were trapping alligators and they were delicious. Like ribeyes. Never had them since though
