I may have the island mistaken, but wasn't Napoleon banished to Ascension and maybe even buried there for a period of time? I think they dug him up and brought him back to France.

Napoleon was banished and died on the island of St. Helena, about 700 miles south of here.

There is still a monument there at his original grave site. The majority of the approx 800 people here are from St. Helena. We call them Saints.

Uhhhhhh, who in the heck are you?

Green Mountain is cool. When you are up there, you look over old lava flows and a Mars-like terrain on one side and what looks like Colorado on the other side. All while the wide Atlantic Ocean is beyond.

When walking to the peak, known as Dew Pond, you walk past 100s of banana trees, eucalyptus trees, and then a bamboo forest at the top.

1 - walking up the bamboo forest before the peak of Green Mtn

2 - banana trees

3 - the Mars-like terrain. NASA brought out their lunar rover back in the 60s to test it here before going to the moon.

4 - the other side of the island

I was on Ascension during August and Sept of last year installing the radios.

Only other Tiger fan on the island.

Have you started the letterbox quest?

Cool man. She resigned and is flying out in the am. Supposedly having surgery in a few months.

I only have the four hikes on Letterbox and Spire Beach left to complete them, but the road to get to all of those are closed due to an unknown virus infecting the booby birds that nest out there.

I'm here for another 22 weeks total with 4 weeks off in June/July.
