I agree with jab in the fact that most crossbows are loud. IMO they are louder than the old overdraw speed bows of the early 90's.

I'm not here to hate on crossbows. I've killed with a crossbow.

Sorry for trying to help the OP by letting him know Cheap crossbows are loud as frick.

For your budget I'd say:

Lower end Barnett Crossbow
or
Bear or PSE Compound Bow

I have killed several deer with each.
