Hold up everyone!
It's not nearly as easy as many of you are stating.
If the trailer is bought from a state that doesn't require trailer registration/title, you'll need to bring it to be inspected before the dmv will register/title it.
Most police departments will do the inspections and the State Troops will also. You'll need a form they'll give you to take to the DMV/Title place with you.

Even if it isn't a homemade trailer? I was under the impression that if the trailer has a VIN it is exempt from inspection.

You’re probably going to need a physical inspection done on the trailer before you’ll be able to apply for title and registration. You better hope the trailer still had a VIN that’s legible or you’ll have tons of problems getting it registered

Yes,even if it's not a home made trailer. Went thru this several years ago when I bought a boat from Alabama, where trailers aren't registered.
See here:
It's a pain in the arse! But if you want to do it right you gotta do it.

For anyone interested. I called today and said if I don't have the title or registration of the trailer then I will have to have it inspected. Luckily, my little hometown PD has two officers that are certified to do this. He will inspect it and fill out a form. That form and a bill of sale should be all that is needed.

Not all the way true. I just went through this fiasco about 2 months ago. Bought a BassCat from a guy in Mississippi. Took me 2 -3 weeks to get it all straight. You will need the following:
1. ITEMIZED bill of sale for the trailer.
2. Inspection form filled out by PD. I used a state trooper who is a friend of mine. Not sure if that matters
3. If the previous owner had a registration card for the trailer, they will want that along with a copy of his Drivers license.
4. I also had to go downtown BR to the revenue department and pay taxes on trailer before they would register it.
A very BIG pain in the arse! Horrible process. I surely hope you have better luck than I did. The ITEMIZED bill of sale was the key!

So in other words... Exactly what I said you'd need to do.
Glad I could help straighten it out before you ran all over creation for nothing...

Holler next year, I’ll let you run circles around my lil skeeter, as long as we’re catchin’!

Do what now?
Going drop it off today to put a hydraulic jackplate on. Anyone need a 12" manual plate?

Let me know sometime when you’re going, some of us up here might put together a Skeeter road trip and head that way for a few days.

Alrighty. Probably not heading back up there until after the first of the year. Water was 55* yesterday morning and it was cold as hell. Bait was everywhere in about 25-30 ft.
