What is bounce diving.

Damn was just about to page you and see if you heard anything on him. I was out there, according to guys on boat he surfaced and was swimming to boat. Went around back and that was it. Other diver that went in with came back up after he lost a fin shortly after entering water. Said he came up the same spot he went down. Current was pushing towards 130. CG had two helicopters and a boat in area. Went missing little before 9am, I got there at 2. It was pretty sloppy out there, it was hard see anything from boat. hopefully he made it to one of those unmanned platforms.

Average recreational diver is cert up to 100 ft and thats with an advanced cert. bounce divers like to deop to 200+ and if they dont see fish immediately will shoot back up. Repeat at next rig. Stupid dangerous

Ok. We get it. This is not a thread to tell people what to do and not to do.
This was obviously not a problem with someone diving too deep and becoming bent or narced (at least doesn't seem so at this time)
If you want bitch about how we dive. Do it in another thread. This is for information for the safe recovery of a missing diver

Thanks for assisting ST. They have a lot of guys heading out tomorrow morning at day break. Hopefully the weather cooperates. It was hot as hell today too. He must be miserable

What I don't understand is why they didn't unhook and go get him.

Yeah same here. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me at the moment but there may be some other details left out.
We should know more within the next few days

The story is the guy resurfaced with everyone but didn't get on the boat
Posted on 6/15/13 at 10:53 pm to tigerpaw08716
Yes. That's him. I didn't want to spread the boat name and diver's name

From what the guy told CG, he came up on same leg he went down on, surfaced and swam to back of boat and then gone. He was in water alone, the other guy that went in around same time came back up shortly after entering water because he lost a fin. They asked about him being alone, buddy system, etc. I heard most of it repeated a couple times on radio as CG was confused on their actions also.

I'll know more on the story tomorrow...
all you can do now is hope for a safe recovery and keep him in your prayers

He was just answering a question

I realized that afterwards but the statement still stands that this thread is about info for a safe recovery.

Hat or tigerpaw. Can you give anymore details on this. I believe this is a boat I usually dive on. Are several of the guys ascension sheriffs or former sherriffs?

Missing diver is a member of Git' Em dive club.
Praying that he is alive and afloat out in South Timbalier.
We had a guy adrift in West Delta for several hours
a few years ago. Fortunately he was spotted by some crew on a platform and recovered safely.
