I had never looked at that statute before, but from looking at it, I am not sure it does what is intended. First, it is not part of the concealed carry statute, which would have been the logical place to put it. SB 534 created 56:1691, which says those in"lawful possession" can possess and transport in WMA. If firearms are prohibited, how can one be in "lawful possession". There was an earlier thread on this board where someone said State Police said that you can't carry on WMA's but LDWF said you could. If LDWF says you can, you can probably get away with it.

This is the previous thread on WMA carry. If the regs allow it , you should be OK

Always transfer it from my truck to my Ranger when I am in the woods.

A couple of years ago, a guy working on his tractor was shot during a robbery near my deer lease. He was alone in the woods working on a food plot. I will never go into the woods anymore without a pistol on my side. You're no more safe in the woods than you are in the 9th Ward.

Pretty much the same for me. I always keep one nearby, but not on me at all times.

ETA: Except, of course, when I'm in the woods. I ALWAYS have some sort of firearm on me out in the wild. Only had to watch Deliverance once to learn that lesson.

In the woods, yes. Cutting grass, no.

Yes, when it is legal......
Here is a trick question is it legal to have a pistol when waterfowl hunting?

Yes. I always do, even deer hunting with a rifle.
Even if the chances are small of coming face to face with a hog, I'd rather have more pews than fewer pews.

Why wouldn't it be?
