keep it dry and clean as much as you can. Some dogs are just predisposed to ear infections. A large part of it can be due to allergies. whether they be food based or other sources of the allergens.
generally i would clean with a good ear flush 1-2x a week. i wouldnt do any more than that because then you can irritate the ear. as far as flushes go some have said epi-otic, i heard thats a good product. i like things with chlorhex in it plus an antifungal component. LINK seem like a good choice from just a quick search. (i dont deal in these products anymore so im not sure what the newest hottest thing is).
when cleaning remember the dogs ear canal is long and L shaped, you need to put a good bit in and really massage it down and well. Kind of do a "squishy squishy" where the ear meets the skull. then clean and dry it out with swabs and cotton balls. obviously dont be so aggressive you hurt your dog. they will shake most of it out eventually.
