The property owner told me its 40 feet deep at the dam. That seems crazy to me. Should I expect the bass to be hanging out down there still waiting for the water to warm up?

Theres catfish and crappie in there too supposedly. Any help on what to throw would be appreciated. I have little kids so im gonna keep three rods going so I can fix one while the other two are being used. Typically I'd just throw the banks with an H&H or something but Im wondering if I'll need to fish deeper. Obv if I get out there and see they're bedding then its pretty straight forward I just want to be rigged up for some different fishing in case theyre still in a colder water pattern.

At night I'd be setting a few poles out with bells/lights on the rod tips. Drink beer and wait until I hear them ring or see the light bouncing. Nightcrawlers, pig liver, and stinky shrimp work well for me.

How would you rig it. Egg sinker slip rig?

Tie a bag filled with dog poop and drop it in the deepest part. The fish will move to the shallow end. Then hit them with a boat paddle or baseball bat, or shoot them.

The crappie are probably done spawning but the bass will be. On small water though, fish will act different. On only 10 acres it won't take you long to figure out. Get minnows and catch some crappie and keep some 9 inchers as live bait for any large catfish and bass.

I’d set up a couple few ultra lights with bobber stop slip cork rigs, couple split shot, shiners of course , and vary the depths. Don’t be afraid to set one of those suckers silly deep, then incrementally up from there. Talking about playing around that deep end here.

I think that's overkill for small water, better off with just a freelined minnow with a tiny split shot 2 feet up and let it slowly wiggle down through the water column. I have a 5 acre lake overloaded with crappie and find this method better when I'm working the 25' deep section by the dam in midsummer.

I put a 3 way swivel. About 1.5 line to a weight and 6" or so to the hook.
