We were in some marsh close to the fourchon public launch. 3 of us fishing popping corks with matrix/voodoo shrimp. They were smoking the she dog too till about 8. They really liked the salty water.

Instead of trying to fish the surf at GI or going to Elmer's Island this Friday I wound up booking a trip with Pelican State Fishing Charters, Capt Dave.

Anyone else think that when they open the bonnet carre fishing in grand isle and west of the river improves? Last time they opened we had a pretty good year, but I have also learned they area way better now then when I first started going down there some years back.

I wouldn't doubt that at all. Fishing in this part of MS is usually really good when it's opened ONCE...this year is obviously quite the opposite.

Caught limits of nice snapper, a mess of mangrove and two Cobia Friday. Drank Friday night and slept in Fished the surf Sunday and caught a handful of trout. The beach was beautiful, but i could do without the jacked up SXS blasting Nickleback.
