Well then you need something cool.

338 federal is spectacular and should be much more popular them it is

Nikons are good (BUT) they are getting out of the scope business.

Leupold VX-3 or above
Vortex Viper line (or higher grade)
Zeiss

Caliber- 7-08, 6.5 creedmoor, 308
All have the distance and power for what you described, but wouldn’t kick ya too bad

Most of the shooting that will be done will be 200-400 yards in the delta. Mainly going to kill deer obviously, but I do see a hog every now and then and coyotes.

If this is really what you are looking to do then

is unnecessary. Good 270 win loads will do the same with significantly less recoil.

A 6.5x55 swede is perfect.

But I'd rather see OP get something cool like 338-06 or 338 federal

I shoot a 6.5-06 Ackley. It’s something different and cool!

If I was buying a new rifle it would be Browning Xbolt stainless in 7 mm mag.Scope would be Leupold VXR-firedot reticle. The Fire dot is the ticket for shooting a black hog when too dark to see crosshair.

I like the looks of the new X bolts. Don’t know much about how sturdy they are.

BUT that Hells Canyon LR looks awesome!
