Decent odds OP has some of that stuff considering he'll be in the mountains.

I guess we need to know is he doing something primitive or is he going to be at a lodge with a butler changing his sheets for him?

I just stayed at a primitive cabin this past weekend and had all I need if an emergency arose just from my supplies needed for the weekend.

Again....OP will be in the mountains.

More than likely he already will have it.

For my weekend trip I grabbed my shovel, chains, and gloves and I waa set because I already had gear that would save me.

Taking a winter road trip. Mainly for scenery and to disconnect.

Already changed thermostat and water pump. Put in blue coolant good to -36

Changed from rainx to -40 deicer.

New tires. New battery. New winch.

Have shovel.

Medkit in truck is already pretty strong.

Will have enough blankets and comforters to sleep comfortably down to -20 or so.

Basically hitting a few very secluded cabins for a few days in each.

I would say that's a requirement.

Anywhere I drive to get to the snow they are required. Don't have to use them but it's required to have on you.

This is like the only thing I didn't see myself purchasing. I mean I do live in Louisiana

If you were in my little part of the world there's a chain tire company that will sell you chains but do a full refund if you don't use them.

I've never used my chains once. It's that whole need if you don't have them situation.

For sure. Before you get in that situation learn how to put your chains on.

You can get a set for a decent price. Get at least two tires. They help tremendously in ice

I was going to tell you to flush your wiper fluid and replace with winter rated fluid, but you have that covered. Good. It's very important. Only other thing I didn't see mentioned is this.

Put a minimum of 300 lbs of sand or concrete in the bed of the truck right over the axle. I'm sure you can see the numerous advantages this would give you.

Well if your stuck for a long time it will keep your kind busy for doodling and what not.

Keeping your mind sharp is good if you get in a stranded situation

While I typically would do this, I'm not sure of the different legal requirements for carrying it in the car for each state.
