It's in the OP. I love hunting hogs at night in a ground blind. It's so different than any other hunting. Nothing more exciting than hearing that grunting and waiting to be able to see them!

Two stands at about 7 and 5 o'clock.

Food at 12 o'clock.

Motion detected green light over bait..

Light comes on take off safety.

Light goes off on timer.

Light comes on again blast the frick away with your AR and a full magazine.

When you shoot at a group of them do they not come back for a while?

Correct.

That's why we get 2 or three people. You can setup apart but all pointing at the 12 o'clock. Like 5,6,7 o'clock. More people the better.

The sign is when the green light comes on you take off your safety. It times out and when it comes on again you start shooting. It's awesome and with 2 or 3 people we've gotten like 6 to 7.

Guy on the left shoot the left side. Middle shoot middle. Right shoots right..

You get enough in a group come in you'll lay waste to them.

This year I built me a 7.62 AR and bought some 8M3 fragable rounds to try.

I did some night hunting for hogs using green lights and had some success. But it got old in a hurry for me,you never know when the bastards are going to show up.They might come shortly after dark, next night 9-10 or maybe 2-3 in AM.Sometimes they wouldn’t show up at all.Sitting out in the dark until all hours is not for me.
What worked the best is having a cellular camera send me notification and I would ease out and shoot.

Those traps that can be dropped via cell phone are THE way to do it

That’s what my friend uses, he farms 4000 acres in Melville.. Receives live infrared video at night on his cell phone and activates the trap from his phone ... he catches / kills 20-30 pigs at a time , most < 30 lbs. Looks like this before, during, and after

I have the circular drop trap like the first picture-Boar Buster. My best catch was 22.It’s much more efficient than shooting for property like mine- mostly wooded. It’s still a pain in the arse.I prebaited spot for a week then set up the trap.First night they didn’t come, then 3 nights in a row the whole bunch were eating except for the biggest sow was hanging around the outside. Finally the 5th night she went in and I caught the whole bunch.I didn’t want her to escape since she seemed to be the matriarch, and trap shy,she would have taught any future offspring to avoid it.
What is a pain is the camera is very sensitive with no way to adjust it,it would be texting picture of coons and possums all night.
Crazy thing is I haven’t hardly had any pigs in a year after I spent all that money. They always would come and go but they’ve never stayed gone this long.People within a mile of me are overrun with them.

HOGS are here to stay along with coyotes.....it is impossible to stop mother nature! It sucks but the the truth. We have tried everything, a Texas ranch came over and trapped several hundred hogs in 4 months, and there was no noticeable difference. They are so prolific and no predators....its a losing battle.

Well in a week of hunting hogs at night i have learnt as they say a few things. First off this week we had a full moon and they did not come in until really late I'm guessing 4 or 5 am..... hogs move really well on the darkest of nights and they move early.... just my experience from this week..... They are fricking smart do not underestimate them. The first night they came in grunting and squealing you could hear them 100 yards away.... After a couple kills that night they tended to stay back in the thicket for a long time before they came out very very quietly..... As much as a pain in the arse as they are they have impressed me...... Very illusive and hard to outsmart!..... Lifting a cold beer to my chops and tenderloin ... here here...I've had more fun this week than the law allows..... Happy hunting season baws as yall say!

Wild hogs are probably the smartest animals in North America that you can legally hunt. They are the ultimate pain in the arse, but at least they taste good.

IMO, pigs are smarter than whitetail deer because they have a better sense of smell. Pigs are essentially blind and to accommodate their olfactory is off the charts. Deer are more curious and tend to circle down wind like a coyote.
