You must have a much larger house than I do. We are talking inches from a 18" barrel. Double that for a SBS.

Maybe so. I just feel my 18" one is already extremely short. If it was about 15", it would probably be flush with my mag tube. The mag tube can't be longer than the barrel anyway so then practicality goes out the window.

EDIT: Meaning, any shorter than 15" wouldn't be practical. I'm fine with my 18".

One in the pipe. Four in the tube. One of the best options for HD.

ETA:

Or for a Semi:

Same capacity as the 870.

I agree. However, I still believe that a properly setup AR is better than most shotguns. The shotgun posted above is an example of what I believe to be better than an AR and one of the best HD guns available.

Solid info and pics!

Would you pay the extra money for 4 fewer inches (no homo)? In all seriousness though. Not being a dick I swear.

Haha

Would I? Probably. Why? Because have just recently gotten into the Class 3 game and it would be another fun learning experience for me. For most people, they probably would not worry about it and shouldnt worry about it.

This is what I would do. Buy a regular 870 for dirt cheap. Change the furniture to synthetic and possible just cut the barrel myself to 18". I would then file a Form 1 with the ATF and ask permission to make a SBS. Once I got the tax stamp approved, I would send the barrel off to be cut down to my desired length and threaded.

I now have the shotgun posted above and I have spent only slightly more than if you bought a tactical one yourself. The first cut I did myself for free, the tax stamp $200, and the final cutting and threading of the barrel.

No homo.

ETA:

Making a SBS or SBR and getting it approved is much faster than asking to buy one.

Of course. All Govt agents can't wait for the day we can go into every home and take the guns out of it. Got anything worth a shite?

This is what I planned on doing for an SBR AR15 down the road. Buy pistol upper -> get ATF approval -> attach to rifle lower.

But as for your homemade SBS my question is this: Where does barrel taper begin? Because it seems like the shorter you cut it, the more you risk the wad opening up way too quickly. I know that the end of my 18" barrel (designed that way) still holds a tight load (no homo ).

Thats 2 of the 3 you are allowed for today.

Do not! I repeat, DO NOT! buy a SBR upper without having having a pistol lower for it to go on. If you have both a rifle lower and a SBR upper in the same area without a stamp, that is big boy prison.

If you do not have a pistol lower then just wait on getting the upper.

What I am going to do is buy a used, complete 5.56 AR. Apply for stamp and get the lower engraved. Then order a 300BLK 10.5" barrel after the stamp comes.

I honestly dont know off the top of my head. It will be taken into consideration when making my SBS though. If it becomes a problem with a regular 870, I will try to purchase a 870P barrel.

No homo.

Solid idea. That's what I'll go with as well.
