What type of fly rod do you have, motorboat? I just picked up one to hit up rivers in N. Georgia.

I feel you. We've all been there. We went fishing in Delacroix yesterday and was our first scouting trip for trout in the marsh since they've finally moved inside. Me and my buddy tore them up in an area I've never fished and my buddy didn't want to try, but I convinced him and the trout were stacked. Also caught 7 reds to top off the box and they were all tournament size between 24-27". Our top two reds weighed 15.6 lbs. Never happens when I fish the redfish tournaments.

I too am having a tough time finding the reds...
Seriously though, just hit me up when u wanna make a trip. I may have to "bradshaw" you to protect my holes, but we can go slay the orange swamp donkeys all day long...

Slumps happen to all of us, just have to keep at it.
My best advice, don't fish the memories. A couple years ago I got in this rut, I was hitting the same spots from past years and similar conditions when I smoked em, only to be scratching my head wondering why I cant catch em now. Everyday is a brand new day, just because you caught them yesterday at this location, on this bait, does not mean that will work today. I still keep my fishing journal but I rarely rely on it for planning my trips.
It will pass sooner or later, just keep a line wet.

this year has definitely been tough for us also. one thing we found out was that one of the oyster reefs that we used to tear the trout up on the last two years is no longer there. We think it got covered up by sand or muck by hurricane Isaac. a couple of other reefs we noticed the same thing. go to fish and no bites. I carry a broken snagging rod and use it to test the bottom for oysters and just mush.........

TS Karen definitely caused some changes around the areas I fish. Be careful out there. there are shallow spots where deep ones used to be.

Yep this summer. In MS our fishing is diff from LA for specks and reds. We gotta run 7-12 miles offshore to the barrier islands for good fishing
Bay St. Louis has always been full of reds. Used to throw my flatboat in the water at the ramp behind the casino and tear up the reds in the Bay with a gold spoon. Never did do well with the trout there aside from undersized school trout under the birds, but I really only fished reds anyway. Pulled some really nice size reds out of there in Oct.-Nov. especially.

And I can't fish anymore, so I'd be happy to give up my spots on a map.

Say the Indian prayer before you launch and go to church and ask forgiveness for whatever you have done to piss off God.
