I had this once and had to replace the tires. New tires and it was all good.

I'm running a 2.5" OME lift and shocks on my Land Cruiser. I likey. Didn't need to change the stock stabilizer.

The guys at Light Line are good but sent my alignment issues out to another place in Industriplex. They fixed my castor and all is good in my world.

they ain't that bad. The older Ford suspension setups using twin I-Beam was fricking pathetic. Older Chevys with pitman/Idler arm setup was turrble.

Who was that company?

I just picked it up an the guy told me I'm missing some sort of retaining clip on my rear brake that's causing a slight rattle. Anyone know about this? I'm assuming an easy fix.

Steering stabilizer just masks the real problem and is more for bump steer. I have not had a SS on my jeep for 3 years(tore it off on a rock), and have not looked back

Do you have a jack and jack stands.

You need to check your track bar, drag link, tie rod, wheels, and ball joints. If none of those items solve the problem, you can go on from there.

Track bar, Unbolt both ends, see if the bolt has mishaped the hole, They will oval out the hole. Major cause of DW

Drag link, tie rod, track bar-- make sure all the joints have not failed and re tighten to TAF

Wheels, make sure they are true

Ball joints-- while on jack stands grab the top of the tire and push it back and forth, it should not wobble.

All these are your first priority on a wrangler.

Do you have aftermarket control arms?

Also, what is your front axle?

no problem in that. I mean frick, some wear and play is to be expected in damn near every suspension component on every make of vehicle without the fricking thing doing a 180 on the interstate for no reason at all.

That's what I figured. I've heard from several that they do great work. I thought they were more into commercial though. My buddy had a Land Rover Discovery 2 with a 6" long arm setup with 35"s and front/rear bumpers. Bitch was BAD!

Like I said, start with your track bar. I have seen several bolt holes ovaled out. Moreso on the axle side. and make sure the bolts are tightened to TAF (Tight as frick). not with a ratchet, use a breaker bar or impact

No control arms? just springs and spacers?

How many miles on the heep? sorry if stated, what size tires. you could very easily have worn ball joints.

DW is a hard problem to diagnose. you really have to check and recheck everything to get it solved

So the guy called and told me that what I'm feeling is being caused by warped front rotors on my jeep. Said everything else looks good after a balance and rotation. Does that sound right to anyone?

Yes, that can do it.

word of advice, stay away from Rancho steering stabilizers. I would go to Light Line of BR and have them hook you up with a good one. LINK

BDS is probably what they'll suggest and they make good stuff.
I would stay away from Light Line. The guy who owns it is the biggest a-hole I have ever met. They also charge outrageous prices. They wanted $120 for a Hi-Lift jack ~10yrs ago when they were going for $75 everywhere else, and that was with the employee discount. That job lasted all of 2 weeks.

Bilstein has applications for many types of SFA trucks. I was trying to get one for my truck, but they didn't make them. They last a lot longer and do a much better job of negating bump steer and axle-jumpage

ETA:
If you want to buy local, get it from Philip at Searchers. He is a very nice guy and pretty helpful.

I would just order it online. Shipping isn't too bad on a 5lb shock

Replaced the track bar myself with a longer fixed length one and it's TAF. Control arms and everything else is stock. Tires are 32x10.5. 120k miles.

It seems to be a little better after my balance and alignment. I don't wanna get deep in the pockets on this since I'll only have it a couple more years at most. I'm buying a SS this week and calling it quits.

Did you know a Troy by chance? Good friend of mine who worked there. I've never liked LL, basically thought the same about the guys, so I may order what I need through someone else.

Jacked dude that worked in the shop?

When I was there, they only had 1 person working in the shop, and he showed up and left whenever he wanted. I signed on to work in the shop too, but after I started, they told me I would be doing phone sales. Ricky(owner) wanted me to memorize entire parts manuals for every Scout ever made and would get pissed when I didn't know a P/N

I told him he was a dickhead, and told him "FU" and left.

Yeah, if you want local, go to Searchers. Online, I would try eshocks.com or shockwarehouse.com
