Just graduated. Just trying to keep making the payments right now
I haven't decided if I am going to dump money into this one or upgrade to a F250 in a few years so I haven't done too much, yet. I got a custom tune waiting on me in Lake Charles but I haven't had time to go get it yet. Queen Elizabeth (Lizzy for short) will probably end up with a Procharger though.

On a stock truck the larger mirrors look out of place but make the truck a bit more aggressive and they make the truck look better.
This is one I looked at last week. I wish it didn't have the chrome package.

I hear ya. Luckily mines paid off so that helps out alot.
250 would be the tits if you need it...actually even if you don't need it
I plan on keeping mine for a pretty long time unless the atlas comes out like the concept
Oh and where are you getting the tune from?

I wouldn't mind the grill, too much. Its the wheels that I don't like at all. I love the grey wheels and the Plat brushed aluminum.

Not needed but would make things a bit easier. And that's a stretch even saying that.

Im hoping that the Atlas comes out in a year or so, then the F250 has a redesign too and then Ill get the F250 redesign.

Ryans Performance in Lake Charles. Its a canned tune that hes just tweaking, not a huge difference truth be told. He specializes in Mustangs but is pretty good with all models/brands. He = Ryan, my BIL.

Ah gotcha. I've looked at the 5 star tunes a little but that's as far as I've gotten right now.
Atlas styled f250 would be

A good powder coat would take care of that but shite, you shouldn't have to do that to a new truck. I love the Fx4 20"s. If the dealer wants to sell, tell them to make it happen, or get the gold KR rims to seal the deal.

I was going to get a 5 Star tune because they are very popular on the forums and fairly cheap. I wasn't even going to bother Ryan about a tune but told him what I was doing and he talked me out of it, quickly. I will not bash another company nor state what made me change my mind but I chose to wait on a tune.
ETA: Its not uncommon to find places recommending that you run the canned tunes until you can get a true tune on a dyno. While mail ordered tunes are getting more and more popular, more people are warning against them.

Exactly. I'll probably take Croacka's advice and just order one with exactly what I want. If I'm spending that much on something, it better be just right

I tell everyone, I went to college for 5 years. That makes me 25% smarter than most college graduates.

What kind of price tag does a true tune come with?
Honestly I don't know much about the tuning methods. What is a canned tune?
I'm guessing that's the tuners with the LCD that mounts on the dash?
And is true tune and mail order the same thing, just with a true tune being better because it uses specs of my actual truck?

No idea on what actual cost is because I am hopefully getting a discount. A true tune will be more than mail order (MO) tune but I am not sure how much more.

A canned tune is what SCT, Superchips, Hypertech writes and sends on the stock tuning device. Very generic and not overly aggressive but safe.

I am more familiar with SCT than any other brand beuase I believe that they are the best. They offer a handheld device that does not display any info. They offer a GPS looking device that gives real time info and parameters. And they also offer a app for Iphones and Android that you can use either as the handheld option or mount your phone on your dash to get 1/4 times and such.

Mail order, you give them the specs of your truck and what types of tunes you want.
Eg, 87 MPG/Performance,89 Tow/Performance,93 Performance/Tow.
Canned tune is very generic and usually comes with MPG, Tow, Performance and are safe.
A true tune puts your truck on dyno and sees what its doing and what needs to change.
ETA: I believe what makes a MO tune dangerous is that they try to do too much with too little info. This is what causes the problems.

Gotcha
Ill probably call around to see what a true tune would run.
Still got a while to plan it all out

The FXs with the anthracite wheels and blacked out projector headlights are bad arse. I'm partial to Toyotas, but they are the best looking trucks on the road.
I'm a big fan of the blacked out projector headlights, I even retrofitted mine
Posted on 5/26/13 at 6:25 pm to Raz4back
I would never pay to have mine retrofitted but they do look good. Actually, I may find a wrecked truck at a junk yard and get the lights depending on how much they want.
