I don't know the answer to that question. I know that there have always been Black Bears in Madison and Tensas Parishes and more particularly in the Tensas River Basin. They were never hunted fully to extinction like they were in some other parts of the state.

True statement.

Photographed north of Destin today.

Used to be quite a few around Toledo Bend but across NW La, I never saw one. In small pockets, quite a few would show up though around TB. Even in small numbers those frickers can be a pain. One bear can cover a whole lot of area in search of your dumpster.

I respect the people that have all this anecdotal evidence about there being a whole bunch more than 500 black bears in Louisiana. It's just one report and an estimated number

one is anecdotal evidence while the other is a scientifically estimated guess.

I mean I guess I understand why people may hate people that work for the state or federal governments in Wildlife and Fisheries, but most of them are hard working scientists that enjoy the outdoors as much as people on here do.

Now the higher ups with political agendas, those are the ones you have to worry about

Some have dream jobs. I know a couple I'd love to trade jobs with.

Exactly I knew a couple of guys who graduated college at LSU and went on to work with ducks and geese up there in Alaska.

I mean I am more into saltwater fisheries, but to them it was the best job in the world and something they had look forward to since intro to RNR

One of the first guys I met when I moved here was LaVern Beier. LINK

Guys a legend, there's a older Nat Geo doc. on his work.

The man is amazing, and extremely down to earth. Really cool guy

He's featured in this documentary.

Funny that in another thread you were talking about how you don't like Trolls. I guess you just don't like any competition.

Funny how when you have nothing else to say, you call me names.

At least I called you Sherlock and a genius. Those are compliments.

I have plenty to say but saying anything to a troll such as yourself is pointless. Troll away troll.
