Good friend of mine did this very thing with a very small fawn found caught in a fence. Brought it home and family meeting was held and ground rules laid down. DO NOT TELL ANYONE! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT POST ANYTHING ON SM!!! etc. etc.
Once she reached about 9 months old the put a tracking collar on it and let roam freely. Now and then it will roam out quite far but still returns "home" almost every evening for a snack.

Property manager on the land we used to hunt in south AL years ago saved a fawn that has half dead and covered in fire ants.
Got him vet treatment and pen raised him for almost two years before releasing it. It spent the next couple years basically hanging around the house and with the cows in the pasture before he moved on.
This was waaaaayyy before social media and even the internet. Some, just genuinely want to help wildlife. I'm not sure that's the real case with this couple who probably were searching for likes.
I was about 12 when they had him penned. I didn't think there was anything cooler than someone saving this baby deer and raising him to be ready to go back to the wild.
That said, choosing to break a law has consequences. There isn't an outdoorsman among us who doesn't know it's against the rules. Actions have consequences, even those made from a position where you think you're doing right morally or ethically.
