I've mentioned this on the board a few times... But I sincerely wish I had purchased the Ford F-250 King Ranch or Lariat.

Geauxt, my ex BIL was one of those form over around Delhi. It was all I could do to not slap the shite out of him at family gatherings, but I'm no longer in that family so don't have to listen to it any more.

I can't believe LSUballs hasn't gotten in on this thread.

The stupid thread title may be keeping him at bay but then again I figured it would have piqued his curiosity.

I'm a country club farmer originally from the Delhi area!

Like I've said, I meet all these stereotypes. You'd prolly think I was an a-hole, Ole Geauxt.

don't think so ... it was more that our beans got too much rain. Some fields were really good while some although harvestable, yields weren't great.

I try not to ask too many questions ... and I also try to not look at the bills!

But no, the rice wasn't affected. I want to say it was all harvested before Isaac but don't remember. Not nearly like Rita or Ike.

I play golf like 5 or 6 times a week during the summer. We get all of the irrigation stuff done early in the day and quit about 5 or 5:30, then I'll go play 9 holes if I'm not spraying. I play once a week during planting, harvest, and field work time which is on Sunday afternoons.

I know farmers from both area and will say the big $ ones are predominantly NLA boys. There arent to many rich SLA farmers, some of the guys doing cane do pretty well but the rice if a tough row to hoe, hence why the number of farmers planting it has dropped big time in recent years.

I'm not talking every single week I work until 5 or 5:30. We work 7 - 7 or 8 if we're spraying, laying by, cultivating, etc... But yeah, if we've laid the crop by and don't have to spray for bugs, we get all of our poly pipe and pivots going, and if not much else is going on we'll knock off early... We do have a 4830 sprayer, and I can spray about 800-1000 acres a day with it, so it's not really a continuous cycle of spraying every day. 2 or 3 days of spraying a week.

eta: Also, we don't farm rice, so it's not near as big of a babysitting job... We've pretty much got our poly pipe irrigation efficiency down to an art.

eta2: down to an art meaning we know about what time to cut every run on to where it will be finished about the time we get there the next morning.

I've also been in the middle of a corn field at 1:00 a.m. cutting pivots off.

A pic in front of the combine reel in a field being harvested makes a great pic. We used to do those all the time.

Figured I would park these here.

Anybody have a good septic tank top for sale?
