Sixty-two percent of American farmers do not receive any direct payments from the federal farm subsidy system, and that group includes most livestock producers and fruit and vegetable growers.

Look, I live a good lifestyle and I get/support subsidies. Protection of our food supply is economically important.

We don't have a firm count of how many farmers are serving in the current Congress, but we do know, based on a recent analysis of the Environmental Working Group's Farm Subsidy Database, that 23 of them, or their family members, signed up for taxpayer-funded farm subsidy payments between 1995 and 2009.
23 out of a small number of citizens compared to US population is a huge number. Just sayin'.

I've already asked this three time, and the only reason I'm asking is because I just want to know outside perception. What percentage of inputs do y'all think subsidies cover on a normal Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana Delta farm? One big enough to support a farmer, manager, and 5 more employees.

There is no way possible that farming can be a profit generator without assistance. Personally, I'd rather keep the beans USA, rather than Guatemalan. I'll throw a nickel out to help

Our farm operation is in the multi millions, gross. it ain't like we're leaching the government

Top 10%: $37,163 average per year between 1995 and 2011. Yea the top 10 percent get 37k avg.
Bottom 80%: $393 average per year between 1995 and 2011.

but I missed it whilst copynpastin

I agree with you OG bout the downtalkers

the farmers that I know struggle to make it with or without subsities and are under huge amounts of stress and debt.

BTW my papa was a subsistance farmer and most of my family was.
