Any issues or anything to check out specifically?

Found a reasonably priced boat. Around 600hrs.

Its past the making oil issue at this point, just a good once over for corrosion if it's been run in saltwater.

What year specifically? 2001-2005 Yamaha used subgrade aluminum in the cylinders. Our 2002 ended up with a hole in the cylinder from the cooling system due to it. Then just had to have the exhaust tube fixed due to corrosion with the connection to the power head. That was due to saltwater corrosion though we think. We flush it most trips but after 23 yrs, it eventually takes its toll.

Avoid like the plague. They had corrison problems they refused to fix etc I think until like 2006 I think. I had a 2009 with 300 hours I got a year and half out of before it blew a gasket. It hasd 3 300 hour tuneups in a row, changed water pump yearly, filters every six month, nothing but ethanol free gas etc. I was so pissed I had a very detailed conversation with the Yamaha whisperer about it. He asked what two strokes I owned etc , and I said a 200 Ocean Pro, and then how long I expected it to last abs I said 10-12 years before a rebuild you were doing ok, I got 16 which was great. He then said, Mr X they have the exact same gaskets in these 4 strokes as they did in your Ocean Pro. The crack and fail over time and there isn’t anything you can do about it, and truth be told, for 90% of fisherman 4 strokes really don’t last any longer than 2 strokes time wise. You can put 1000s of hours on them during that time and they actually do much better if they are run 5 times a week, but for weekend warriors etc, they don’t last longer they just cost more.

No matter what your gaskets are way over their lifespan, if you buy it you should do a complete rebuild after year one if u can find parts

The boat is a 2006, so Id imagine its a 2005 or 2006 engine. Ill make sure to look.

Buy boat, trailer and greatly discount motor with understanding you may have to repower in the future. Motor may last another 600 hours or 6 hours.
All outboards hate a sedentary life but most live it.
You can bore scope the cylinders for some piece of mind.
